Kim's Story

Have you ever found yourself tethered to an outlet, contorting your body into uncomfortable positions to use your phone while it charges?

Hi! I’m Kim, and I can totally relate. During my long COVID recovery, compounded by a head injury, I realized I wanted my phone charged and close by during my recovery, and I couldn't find a comfortable option. I envisioned it resting on a cozy little pillow, and that’s how PhoneSpuds was born!

From Sales to Entrepreneurship

I have a background in sales, and I understanding customer needs. But there's more to my story. I’m a former high school language arts teacher, and also a trained actor and singer. I write poetry, and I have a deep passion for expression and authenticity.

A Heart for Helping Others

Born in Baltimore, MD, and raised in Cedar Rapids, IA, I've faced my share of challenges, including surviving domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault. This personal history fuels my commitment to helping others. A portion of every PhoneSpud purchase supports survivors. This isn’t just a product; it’s my way to give back and help those who need it.

Whimsy Meets Practicality

PhoneSpuds is whimsical and practical. It's a potato pillow! Whether you’re lounging on the couch, working at your desk, or lying in bed, PhoneSpuds provide a convenient and cute solution. Because PhoneSpuds was born out of necessity, during a time when I was rendered virtually immobile, it's an excellent gift for anyone in the hospital or struggling with chronic illness.

Building a Company with Heart

Creating PhoneSpuds has been a labor of love, reflecting the person I am and the company I am building. I want PhoneSpuds to bring a smile to your face and ease to your routine. It’s about adding a little bit of happiness to your day-to-day life.

Join Me on This Journey

PhoneSpuds are more than just potato pillows that hold your phone. Our phones are our primary connection to loved ones who are far away, and I see anything that makes using them easier as a true comfort item. I hope you’ll feel the same joy using it as I did creating it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I wish you all love, peace, and opportunity. Stay strong out there.
